PtX Lab Talk #17 | Securing Critical Raw Materials for Green Fuels and Basic Materials of Tomorrow

How can critical raw materials be secured for the production of green fuels and basic materials of the future? This recording of PtX Lab Talk #17 explores key challenges and solutions for building resilient supply chains in the context of the global energy transition.

Experts discuss rising demand for critical raw materials, Europe’s import dependencies, and policy responses such as the Critical Raw Materials Act. The session highlights the role of Power-to-X (PtX) technologies in enabling decarbonization and examines how sustainable sourcing, efficiency improvements, and innovative industrial processes can support climate-neutral value chains.

The talk took place on 23 April 2026 and it also provides insights into geopolitical dynamics and industrial policy strategies shaping the future availability of essential resources for green transformation.

The "PtX Lab Lausitz – Think and Do Tank for Fuels and Basic Materials from Green Hydrogen (PtX Lab Lausitz - Praxislabor für Kraft und Grundstoffe aus grünem Wasserstoff)", based in Cottbus/Germany, is a central player on the road to greenhouse gas neutrality. Through interdisciplinary cooperation and cross-sectoral approaches, the Think and Do Tank advises industry, politics and science. In doing so, knowledge is collected and synergies are created to enable the transition to sustainable energy sources.
